What to ask before you choose the rings

What ring designs do you have available?

Ask what they hold in stock and what can be ordered in the size, width and shape you want. If you want two different rings, ask whether they can be made so that they still work as a pair.

What materials can the rings be made from?

Ask which types of gold and which other materials are available, and what the price difference between them is. You will mostly hear about 14K and 18K gold: 14K is 58.5% pure gold and 18K is 75%, and that is where much of the price difference comes from. Clarify the colour, the purity and the finish you can choose for each ring.

Can we have the rings engraved?

Ask what can be engraved inside the rings, how many characters the price covers, and whether the engraving can use handwriting or a symbol you choose. Check whether it adds to the time the rings take to make.

How do we get the size right?

Ask whether they measure your fingers in the shop and whether you can try several sizes before ordering. The rings are ordered in individual sizes, so each of you chooses separately. Clarify whether the size can be altered later and what that costs.

How long does it take, and when do we get them?

Ask how long it takes if you choose something already in stock, and how long if the rings are made to order. If you want engraving or any personalisation, ask whether that moves the delivery date and by when you need to place the order.

What is included in the price?

Ask whether the price covers the engraving, the box, sizing, the certificate and any later alterations. Ask for the final price for both rings, and whether there are extra costs for personalisation or for a made-to-order design.
